Tom Dukes and Dhillon Ramkhelawan obtained final summary judgment for a Seminole County trauma surgeon

On August 25, 2025, Tom Dukes and Dhillon Ramkhelawan obtained final summary judgment for a Seminole County trauma surgeon. The case involved a patient who had an emergent excisional debridement procedure following a motorcycle accident and then went on to develop compartment syndrome, resulting in the amputation of his lower right leg. Plaintiff alleged our client missed evidence of the compartment syndrome during their sole encounter immediately after the excisional debridement procedure. We argued Plaintiff could not point to any record evidence of negligence on the part of our client. We also provided testimony of our own from our trauma surgery expert who stated our client clearly met the standard of care as Plaintiff was not exhibiting any signs or symptoms of compartment syndrome as he was still intubated and sedated during the sole encounter with our client. The judge agreed with our arguments and dismissed the case against our client with prejudice.
