Biography
Brian W. Boelens is an attorney focused on defending medical malpractice actions. Mr. Boelens received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Central Florida and his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. While in law school, Mr. Boelens was a graduate teaching assistant, a research assistant, and the secretary of the Healthcare Law Society.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Boelens was a Senior Litigation Attorney with the Florida Board of Governors Self-Insurance Programs where he defended medicolegal issues related to the State University System’s Colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Veterinary Medicine, and those Colleges’ affiliated hospitals. In that capacity, Mr. Boelens represented physicians, dentists, nurses, pharmacists, veterinarians, and affiliated healthcare providers at the University of Florida, University of Central Florida, Florida State University, Florida Atlantic University, and Florida International University.
Mr. Boelens has been an adjunct professor at the University of Florida College of Public Health and Health Professions where he received the 2020 Excellence in Teaching award. Mr. Boelens also served at the University of Florida College of Law as a guest lecturer on the topic of medical malpractice and as an externship field supervisor. Mr. Boelens has published peer-reviewed articles in The Florida Bar Journal, Conflict Resolution Quarterly, Trial Advocate Quarterly, and Risk Management and Healthcare Policy. Mr. Boelens has given over a hundred invited presentations and lectures to groups such as the Florida Defense Lawyers Association, the Florida Department of Health, and the Alachua County Veterinary Medical Association.
When not working, Brian enjoys reading, exploring coffee shops and breweries, debating loudly with family and friends, and spending time with his wife and their four busy children.
