Biography
My name is Steven Douglas McCarus, Jr. and I am a 2026 graduate from Ave Maria School of Law in Naples, Florida. I sat for the July 2026 Florida Bar Exam and achieved a passing score on my first try. I received my undergraduate degree in Retail Entrepreneurship and Product Development from Florida State University in 2020, and then later a master’s degree in Retail Entrepreneurship and Product Development from the Jim Moran School of Entrepreneurship at Florida State University in 2021.
I grew up in Windermere, just outside of Orlando, with two OB/GYNs as parents, Dr. Steven and Dr. Tamberly McCarus. It is through this upbringing that I am drawn to the medical side of the law, and am blessed to serve as counsel for healthcare systems, doctors, surgeons, and hospitals. I have been around doctors/healthcare personnel my entire life, and found a deeper passion for this area of law while interning for a medical malpractice defense firm in Baltimore, Maryland during my final year of law school.
Outside of work, I have a wide range of passions and hobbies that fill my free time. I absolutely love spending time and traveling with my family, wherever on the globe we may end up. Hanging out with my parents, girlfriend, and brother with his soon to be wife is always a day I look forward to, and simply just love being with them all. Also, sports occupy a vast majority of the free time I have available. The Florida State Seminoles and the Chicago Bears are my favorite teams to watch/attend games, and golf has become the main sport I still play to this day. I also spend 6 days a week training in the gym, as bodybuilding icons of the 1970’s, 1980’s, and 1990’s have all been some people I look up to and strive to emulate physically in my physique.
Lastly, I am a devout Christian and believer in Jesus Christ. I was raised both in the Greek Orthodox Church, and well as the Presbyterian Church, and have carried my faith with me for as long as I can remember. I have been exceptionally blessed my entire life, and I truly am so thankful for the many and bountiful blessings God continues to bestow upon me. I wouldn’t have been able to achieve anything without Him opening the doors and giving me the opportunities.
